PROJECT: Hospital-based Risk Management System
Client was using for five industry-specific subscription-based software programs to manage various aspects of risk management, quality, nursing quality, and patient care.
Designed a custom, comprehensive, integrated system with shared core data, functionality and reporting which also provided each department with its own specific data and features. By eliminating duplication and unused features, the project cost less than of the annual maintenance fee for one of the five packages they were using before.
Previously, the client hired 3-5 temporary workers for several months each year to retype data from different programs into a separate program to provide reports for physician credentialing. In my system, 300 customizable Microsoft Word documents were created from original data in less than 20 minutes.
PROJECT: Logistics Management System
Client received a daily data feed of loads available for trucking/logistics vendors to move. The Client's staff made outbound phone calls to match this list with available vendors and arrange the transport. This was a time-consuming, inefficient process with a low-success rate.
I created an integrated system that imported the daily feed data. Within minutes, auto-generated faxes were sent to a list of hundreds of potential vendors. Now interested and motivated vendors were calling the Client, which led to significantly higher conversion rates.
Client had an internal, commission-based process to handle the way loads were booked. The integrated system quickly revealed issues with that process which suppressed the conversion rate despite the increase in inbound calls. I recommended and implemented a better commission system that rewarded each team member for their role in the process and built-it into the application, which resulted in higher conversion rates, satisfied customers and staff and greater efficiencies.

PROJECT: Mortgage Broker Client Management System
Client created a process to manage new leads in a consistent way depending on where people were at in the mortgage application process. The process used a series of calls, mailings and emails to communicate with prospective customers.
I created a custom software application that automatically generated stage-specific reminders for each lead when it was entered into the system.
Administrative staff worked from a master list of reminders to send postal mail or emails and make phone calls. Reminders could be grouped by type of communication, date, staff assigned, and completion status.
This resulted in a significant increase in converting leads to actual customers by providing a strategic, consistent and effective way to respond to new leads.

PROJECT: Production Management
Client was using mainframe system for core operations but that system could not be customized, limiting the usefulness of key data.
I linked mainframe data to a custom application that extended the functionality and value of the data.
When entering orders into mainframe system, users didn't know if there was sufficient inventory until the order was input. If not, it had to be manually reversed. In my custom application, users could enter an order first, and an algorithm using mainframe data determined if inventory was available prior to entering an order.
Client used temporary workers for daily production. My system kept track of hours and bonuses. This data was sent to the temp agency responsible for payroll, and gave the client the option to monitor and tweak bonuses to retain good workers. It also eliminated double or triple data entry with its inaccuracies.
PROJECT: Event Security Tracking & Estimating
Client purchased an accounting system to pay employees and contractors who provided security for events.
Despite the payroll history available, the accounting system did not include data that could help them create accurate estimates for future events.
I created an integrated system which combined the accounting data with custom data that to create more accurate estimates, resulting in greater profitability.

Creating custom database applications using Microsoft Access since version 1.0.

Built a standard development process that uses best-practices, reusable code and functionality with the highest developer-level standards, leading to top notch, custom, scalable, easy-to-use, flexible and cost-effective solutions.
MICROSOFT EXCEL
Custom Excel solutions and troubleshooting.
In a recent example, created a global macro to process downloaded web-transaction data for entry into an accounting system. The original data contains thousands of rows which took staff 4-6 hours to process manually. With this macro, final summarized data was created in 5-8 seconds.
MICROSOFT POWER PLATFORM
As Microsoft moves towards online solutions, the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) are being increasingly adopted by more companies, requiring support, mentoring and development for this new platform.
Developed Power Automate flows to provide consistent and efficient handling of regular tasks and events, such as adding records, reminders, file operations and notifications.
Created Power Apps using data sources from Excel, SharePoint, Access, Dataverse and SQL server. Apps can be run within Teams, in a browser or mobile device.
Power BI dashboards provide strategic, timely, accurate data from a variety of data sources in easy-to-understand, shareable forms including charts, graphs, lists and more.
MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT
Managed multiple SharePoint sites, providing a consistent, intuitive, uncluttered resource for users.
Provide SharePoint governance procedures to provide developer-level oversight to user-created sites. This results in a consistent user experience.
MICROSOFT SQL SERVER
SQL Server development and integration with other Microsoft platforms including Access, Excel, Power Platform and more.

PROJECT: Medical Record Retrieval
Company was using multiple Excel sheets from multiple data sources to manage a months-long campaign to retrieve medical records for certification purposes. This approach had data inconsistencies, duplication of effort, lacked progress tracking, and used time-consuming manual processes to send faxes.
By combining data into a single custom application, users were able to reduce the number of calls required dramatically. Instead of weeks-long efforts, hundreds of faxes could be sent in a matter of days, leading to a dramatic increase in efficiency and accuracy with real-time progress reporting.
PROJECT: Call Center Replacement
Regional bank purchased a vendor who ran an outbound call center that made calls to potential customers interested in a second mortgage line of credit. The vendor used a paper-based system to manage hundreds of thousands of leads and calls - an expensive and inefficient system the bank called "ripe for improvement."
I was the project manager and solution architect to create a prototype for a digital system that replaced the existing paper-based one.
